This past Sunday was forecast to be rainy, but it didn't seem too bad, so we decided to take a chance and try to go for a hike. We chose Heather Lake, which we've been meaning to do for quite a while. We drove up once before, but were turned away at the last mile by a crazy blizzard. This time, we got to the trail head with no trouble.

The hike is about 4 miles round trip - a little longer if you do the loop around the lake, which we did. The trail was in pretty good shape, although pretty wet, and fairly muddy in places.

As we neared to top the snow started to appear. We stopped by the ranger station on the way in, and were told that we wouldn't need snowshoes, so we left them in the car. The snow did get pretty deep up by the lake, but it was packed down pretty well, and we never need them.

The weather looked menacing occasionally, but held out, and we only got hit by about 15 raindrops. And we made it back to the car before dark, even though we didn't leave home until after noon! So all in all, a success.
