Photo of the Moment - 11 May 2009

It's finally starting to feel like spring around here and we've been enjoying being out on the water again. It's been a few weekends since we've been out onto Puget Sound but I thought I'd put up some belated pictures. Our last trip left from Shilshole Marina - a gigantic place tucked in behind a man-made breakwater. You can get the satellite view courtesy of Google. There are a few fabulous artistic additions on the breakwater. In the photo below, you can see the Puget Sound-equivalent of the the Loch Ness Monster. If you've got good eyes, just to the monsters right is a skeleton using his sword as a walking stick. One of these days I'll remember to get a close up of the monster and his skeleton.

I took this picture from back on shore, looking straight out. On a less cloudy day the Olympic Mountains are visible on the horizon. In fact - I just found a picture that someone else took that shows exactly what I wanted you to see. Look here! On this trip, we snuck back into the docks just before the rain caught up with us. You can see the clouds coming in from the right in the photo below. Just to add a little perspective about Shilshole, this view above is of 'J' and 'K' docks. The image below is of the rest of the docks to the north (L and up). .
