It's amazing what parents start doing when the kids are out of the house! My Dad, for example, decided he wanted to start doing bronze sculptures a few years back. We were all a little surprised since, as far as we know, he had never done any sculpting at all. The heck with clay - straight to bronze! Dad has now finished several pieces and I keep meaning to start him a web page where all the finished pieces can be viewed. It's on my list of things to do. In the mean time, here is a sample of his latest work- in-progress.
It turns out that any bronze-cast sculpture does go through a clay phase, so that's where the latest work is at. Dad displayed his latest piece, 'Genesis', at an exhibition of local artists at the Shaw Art Gallery in Northeast Harbor. Dad and Donna attended the exhibition and had a great time mingling with all the other artists. This is his third year of being included in the exhibition and we're all looking forward to next year's already!
